Bridging the Gap Between IT and Accessibility (Deprecated since Windows 1903)
IT management of any size is hard! Computers are great at doing what they're told, even if that thing they are told breaks them. The goal for any tech is to try and make their devices as self-sustaining as possible. The less a tech has to directly manage their devices the better.
Some of the solutions to this issue of management (stripped down version of the OS, GPOs to restrict access and automate tasks), have made endpoint management much easier, but it also sometimes restricts access for users. To solve this / address this, I have a link here to a Google Slides Presentation I used at the CSUN 2021 Assistive Technology Conference
As proud as I was about the presentation, I will have to admit a lot of its information is now deprecated after the 1903 Windows update. But that is a good thing!! The 1903 update added a TON of really cool accessibility features, such as granular levels of control for magnification, color of the cursor, actual options for increasing the cursor size, and later Voice Access and Windows dictation are absolute game changers for users. Solutions like this used to cost an arm and a leg, now they are free, and usually work better than other options. In case there are any shops still on a pre-1903 image though (you shouldn't be....), the link should give you a good idea of how to help users while still maintaining the same level work : )
